CHAIRity Update

07/19/2010

Click to see chairs that will be auctionedIn the clean up of the May floods in Nashville, Tennessee, damaged furniture was piled up on sidewalks and tossed out as trash. The question arose, “How can we find beauty in all this brokenness?” The answer was clear as God opened our eyes to the idea of “CHAIRity.”

With the permission of homeowners, discarded chairs were rescued and transformed by visual artists, vocal artists, sports figures, civic leaders and many others. The men at the Nashville Rescue Mission cleaned, sanded and prepared the chairs for distribution. The chairs and their artists each have a story to tell as they are being staged for the CHAIRity Auction to be held at the Belle Meade Plantation on August 12th. Sealed bid forms are currently being accepted. The CHAIRity Auction will raise money to help with the needs of Nashvillians who have lost everything.
